Meet the Incumbent: Alder Amani

Alder Amani currently serves as the Alder for District 12 and on the Dane County Airport Commission as an appointee of Dane County Executive Joe Parisi.  

Prior to being elected to Madison Common Council in spring of 2023, Alder Amani worked fulltime as an Advisor and Assistant to Dr. Opal Lee. 

Lee, who is also Amani’s cousin, is known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth” as in 2021 (at the age of 95 years young) Lee brought forth Juneteenth as the 11th Federal Holiday after nearly five decades of relentless work. See Ms. Opal at the White House

Prior to working for Lee, Alder Amani worked in the Wisconsin Senate for State Senator Lena Taylor.
